Visualize the Best You

Sean’s LIFE BEFORE HOT YOGA
Regular aches and pains! That was my motivation for joining. Back, knee and elbow pain. My knee pain especially at the time. I remember walking stairs hurt. My doctor said it would continue to get worse as I aged. I am thankful that he was wrong! For me it is critical to maintain a regular practice. I have a week long golf trip every fall, and can’t practice that week. I am limping by the end of the trip, and my back is a mess. Like clockwork. It is a fantastic reminder of what my life would be like if I gave up my yoga practice.
sean’S FIRST CLASS
I panicked when I walked in (too many fit people, lol), and almost turned around. Teacher Erica and one of the regular students Megan were working the front desk. They talked me into signing up. I was quickly overwhelmed and lost control of my breathing, so I worked harder. I am sure I sounded like a train wreck. The guy practicing next to me, shushed me. Not real Yogi like upon reflection! My first class was July 25th, 2013. I have the receipt on the wall above my phone at work. It was one of the most important and impactful days in my life.
sean’S HEALTH BENEFITS
Every aspect of my life is better since I started practicing Bikram Yoga. I feel that my mind and body connection is getting stronger. The balance on my one foot is getting better. The quality of my golf game has improved. I am more flexible in my back, hips and shoulders. The increase in strength and flexibility has increased my clubhead speed and the quality of the shots I hit. Overall I feel better and stronger.
sean’S FAVORITE THINGS
Every time I walk into the studio I am greeted by happy, successful people. The atmosphere is happy and uplifting. I am constantly learning new things from the amazing teachers at Thrive. I have also developed wonderful friendships through my practice. I enjoy the experience. I set up my week to accommodate my practice.
sean’S ADVICE FOR BEGINNERS
First, get excited! See yourself enjoying all of the benefits your regular practice will provide you in 1 month, 1 year, and 5 years. No limits. Visualize the best you, and keep working at it, little by little every day. Practice is the key. Keep practicing. I never would have believed I could have made the progress I have in the past 5 years. My story is not unique. There are regular people I practice with that do heroic things. I am inspired by the person on the mat next to me, and across the room. Walk into a Thrive Hot Yoga class and you are with winners. I wish I had something magical I could say that would encourage people to come. Suspend your disbelief. Become the person you know you can be! Come practice with us!
